The Taming Sari

Sungguh fascinating and interesting citer keris Taming Sari ini..Quote from HRH Raja Zarith Sofia in her article (New Straits Time) :

"Despite the loss of the mahkota, the rest of the Malacca royal regalia was still in Sultan Muzaffar Shah's possession. This included the Taming Sari kris, which apparently belonged to Hang Tuah, the famed Malacca a warrior. The Taming Sari is tucked into the bengkong (waist sash) of each Sultan of Perak on the day that he is installed as ruler of the state. 

For many centuries now, it has been in the safekeeping of successive Sultans. I remember the times my father allowed me to hold the Taming Sari in my hands. On its golden hilt were rubies of a pale pink colour, like faded flowers. A green enamel was painted onto the gold base of the kris. The blade was darkly stained, a mixture of shades of brown, grey and deep red. Were the deep, dark reds on the tip of the blade merely rust or are they the stains of the blood of those who were slain by it? History supports the claim of the Perak royal family as direct descendants of the Malacca Sultanate: "Perak's prestige rose considerably when a new dynasty was established by Sultan Muzaffar Shah, a son of Sultan Mahmud Shah, the last ruler of Melaka... "

"Keris berkenaan yang diseliputi dedaun emas, manakala sarung atau hulunya diperbuat daripada emas serta dipercayai adunan daripada 20 jenis besi yang sebahagiannya daripada serpihan besi ganggang pintu Kaabah.

Senjata itu dikatakan mempunyai kuasa sakti iaitu pemiliknya tidak lut dimakan senjata lawan dan berupaya berlegar di udara ketika mengejar musuh. Selain itu, ia juga dipercayai mempunyai kuasa untuk memberi petunjuk jika Perak bakal 

dilanda sebarang musibah atau bencana."

Adalah dikatakan bahawa Hang Tuah memberi keris ini kepada Tun Mamat untuk dibawa balik mengadap Sultan pada masa itu kerana beliau terlalu malu untuk mengadap sendiri ke bawah Duli Sultan kerana gagal untuk mendapat Puteri Gunung Ledang untuk baginda. Tatkala Sultan Mahmud meninggalkan Melaka baginda membawa keris ini bersama-sama baginda ke Kampar-Sumatera. Kemudian baginda mengurniakan keris ini kepada anakanda baginda Raja Mudzaffar Shah, yang kemudiannya berangkat ke Perak."

Eh, why the sudden interest in taming sari lak ni?..Ke sudden interest in Perak Royalties ek?..**wink**

To be or not to be..

Frankly speaking, I don't think doing my Masters was tough. The only challenge was that I have to be away from my family..but I managed though..with a flying colour result. Some I've expected, some I wasn't. But for those planning to further their Masters, go on..it's nothing that you think that you can't.

Now, people around me are encouraging me to do my pHd..pheww..yeah, how nice it would be..your name with a Dr in front..I remember my first speech in Toastmasters, things that I would like to achieved before 40..4 children, 2 boys, 2 girls (well, almost..), a brand new olive-green Jaguar (err...have to wait when my husband got 'Datukship'..), and of course a DR before the age of 40..hmm, now I'm 34, say that I apply next year, the process, so, most probably I might get the scholarship by 36..3 years doing pHD, then, if things are smooth..just enough time for me to graduate at the age of 39..wink..wink..

The question now is, do I have the talent, the brain, the perspiration and most importantly the motivation to do pHD..It's not an easy task this time..got to prepare myself physically and mentally..but if you don't challenge yourself, how would you know to what limit that you can push yourself to?

So, again, it's the power of mind..by next year, DH44, 4th child, apply for pHD..Ya Allah, permudahkanlah jalanku..aminn.. TO BE OR NOT TO BE, THAT'S THE QUESTION..
